Korg SP-170S Digital Piano Keyboard Review

Should You Buy The Casio PX 130 Piano? Casio PX 130 Review   by Nevinna Fimm

Anyone that is an experienced piano player will tell you that their first few keyboards they used to learn how to play were very vital to their learning. This is because, when you are starting out as a novice or moving to the intermediate stage, you want an doodad that can grow with you and still supply the features and versatility that you want.

The Casio PX 130 is one such digital piano to many pianists. It has gained a credibility over the years for being a trusted musical gizmo that provides enough features to assist you in your learning and provide you with enough features so that you don’t get bored with it quickly.

In fact, if you take a look at some of the essential features it has, you will see why many people make this their first selection even after evaluating other digital musical instruments on the market.

Review of the Casio PX 130 Features:

1. Expressive Touch Response

The Casio Privia PX-130 features a state-of-the-art Tri-Sensor 88-note scaled hammer action keyboard which essentially makes adjustments to your playing style in terms of how you press the keys.

Everyone’s fingers are not the same and thus a few people produce music without completely lifting their fingers from the keys while others seem like they press too hard on the keys. To eliminate a lot of the errors that you would hear, the expressive touch feature allows for the choice of three levels of response sensitivity to adjust it to your liking. All three are a bit soft-handed compared to a genuine musical instrument but nevertheless, this feature is a must for people learning and practicing how to produce music a piano.

2. Voice Samples

This digital keyboard comes equipped with the modernized grand piano voice as the default and it undoubtedly sounds fantastic across the full variety of notes as you play it. It also comes with the classic piano sound and three electric piano voices which sound quite good keeping in mind that this is one instrument attempting to satisfy a wide assortment of users.

The organs sound sample is also included as well as the strings and two bass voices. When you are playing a piece of music, you will not have a shortage of sound voices to choose from in order to sound a close as possible to the original composition. If you mix all these tunes you realize that you have almost an endless selection of what you could play no matter what kind of music you appreciate to play.

3. Sound Grade

The Casio PX 130 comes with 2 speakers and they are sufficient if playing in a room to practice. if you are performing in front of a crowd in a hall or church, then it can easily connect to an external sound system and it will sound crisp clear without distortion. Of course the key here is to use a professional sound system.

In case you are playing at home in an apartment form setting, it has 2 headphones jacks that you could use to attach a worthwhile quality headphone and listen to yourself play.

4. Education Features

This digital keyboard features Casio’s Duet mode, whereby the musical instrument could be split into two comparable ranges, allowing student and lecturer to play at the piano synchronously.

4. Recording Features

The PX-130′s built-in 2 track recorder and metronome allows you to learn any tempo and later listen back to what you just played. The recording features could also be used to capture moments of creativity and remember song ideas.

Some Cons To Note:

Casio designed this keyboard to be sleek and to achieve that, it was not designed with a hundred buttons on the front interface like you find on some of the other brands. As a result, in order to access many of the functions, you have to use a function key paired simultaneously with one or more of the 88 keys on the keyboard to make a choice.

This means that in the beginning, you will have a bit an of a training curve but once you know what you’re doing, then its simple. This is a reasonable trade-off to having numerous buttons on the front interface which would also add to the size and weight of this musical instrument and affect the portability.

Overall, the Casio PX 130 is a good buy especially for amateur and average pianists of all ages owed to its portability, sound quality and features.
