Korg Pianos by Matt W. Foster
Korg Pianos produced the first synthesizers in Japan. The headquarters of this innovative company is based in Tokyo, Japan. During the early part of the 1960s, Tsutomo Katoh was a proprietor of a nightclub. A well-known Japanese accordionist was performing regularly at his joint. His name was Tadashi Osanai, an engineer who took his diploma from the outstanding Tokyo University.
Katoh told Osanai of an idea he had been keeping in his mind. Katoh said that he was thinking of a rhythm machine that could be in tune with the beat. Osanai assured Katoh he could deliver and was able to convince Katoh to provide the financial needs.
That was how Korg pianos were conceptualized. In 1962, Katoh and Osanai worked on the idea of creating a rhythm machine. They worked on a rented place along the Keio railway line. They called their initial enterprise Keio. This was later changed to Korg coming from the 2 words Keio and ORGan.
They launched their first product in 1963, the DoncaMatic DA-20. Since then they had been manufacturing keyboard products for music makers around the globe. They are also great suppliers for synthesizers.
They are also creating Workstations, a single package that has a keyboard, a drum machine, realistic ROM-based and PCM-sampled sounds, a digital multi-effects and a sequencer. Korg Pianos offers their clients with software and computers, tuners and metronomes, ToneWorks effects, electribes and dance products, digital recording studios, a lot more and pianos. Here are some of their excellent piano offerings:
